This season’s "Opera in HD" program features Verdi’s "Attila," Prokofiev’s "The Gambler," Richard Strauss' "Die Frau
ohne Schatten" (The Woman without a Shadow), and Shchedrin’s "Dead Souls" from the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersberg;
Wagner’s "Ring Series" from the German National Theatre; as well as Bizet’s "Carmen," and others.
Our Encore performances are highlighted by beautifully produced performances in High-Definition from the awe-inspiring
surroundings of the 1st-century Roman quarry at St Margarethen in eastern Austria provide the backdrop for several
thrilling live performances of opera at its grandest. All the splendour of ancient Egypt and biblical Babylon is on
display for Verdi’s spectacular Aida and Nabucco. The Paris Opera is recreated to summon up the moneyed, heartless
society that condemns the heroine of Verdi’s La Traviata to her poignant fate.
